Diagnostic imaging helps clinicians investigate injuries, symptoms and medical conditions. Your GP may request an X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan or MRI when clinically appropriate. DC Medical Centre does not perform imaging on site. Independent imaging providers perform the examinations and prepare the reports.
You are free to arrange your scan with any suitable provider, whether or not that practice's name appears on your request form.
Your imaging request belongs to you. A clinic name or logo printed on the request does not mean you must use that clinic.
Use the list below to compare locations and contact providers about availability, equipment and pricing before deciding.
DC Medical Centre cannot dictate which radiology practice you attend. You may take your request to whichever appropriately equipped provider you prefer. We do not endorse one practice over another. You are welcome to call several providers from our list—or choose somewhere else entirely—to compare fees, appointment availability and convenience.
Often used for bones and chest examinations. X-rays use a small amount of ionising radiation.
Uses sound waves to examine soft tissues, blood flow, pelvic or abdominal organs and pregnancy-related concerns.
Uses X-rays and computer processing for detailed cross-sectional pictures. Some scans require contrast medium.
Uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves. MRI does not use ionising radiation, but certain implants and devices require safety screening.
The imaging provider can confirm which examinations are available at its location, whether a booking or preparation is required, and what you will pay before attending.
These three independently operated imaging centres are listed in the order requested for convenience, not as mandatory or preferred providers. Each listing includes the provider’s own website. Please confirm that the clinic offers your exact examination.

Imaging centres are independently operated and set their own fees. DC Medical Centre cannot determine their charges or bulk-billing policies. Some examinations may qualify for Medicare rebates or bulk billing, while others incur an out-of-pocket cost.
MRI rebates have additional requirements relating to the requested study, clinical indication, provider and equipment. Contact the imaging clinic directly for pricing and Medicare eligibility before booking. Medicare imaging information →
Ask the radiology clinic whether your examination requires fasting, drinking water, changing medicines or special preparation. Bring your request, Medicare or insurance details and relevant earlier images or reports.
Tell the provider about pregnancy or possible pregnancy, implanted devices, kidney conditions, previous contrast reactions and allergies. If you have urgent symptoms, seek appropriate urgent medical assessment rather than waiting for routine imaging.
Attend your chosen imaging provider and make sure your referring GP or DC Medical Centre is listed to receive the report.
We typically receive your imaging report from the next day to five business days after your examination, although this can vary.
Once we receive the report, we generally send you a message to let you know your results are available and to arrange a follow-up consultation.
If one week has passed since your imaging was completed and you have not heard from us, please contact DC Medical Centre. The report may not have been delivered correctly; we can contact the provider and chase it up. Do not assume silence means your results are normal.
A diagnostic imaging request is different from a specialist referral. Under Medicare's general rules, diagnostic imaging requests generally do not expire before the requested service is performed, but an imaging provider may need updated information if your circumstances change.
Read Services Australia's imaging request guidance for more information about patient choice and requesting requirements.
Yes. You can take a valid imaging request to a diagnostic imaging provider of your choice, including one not named on the form, provided it offers the examination.
No. Imaging is performed by independent radiology providers. Our clinicians may issue clinically appropriate imaging requests and review results.
Each imaging provider sets its own prices and bulk-billing policies. Contact providers directly for an itemised quote and ask whether a Medicare rebate applies.
No. Medicare eligibility for MRI depends on the scan, clinical indication, requester, provider and equipment. Ask the radiology practice to confirm a rebate and out-of-pocket amount before booking.
We typically receive a report between the next day and five business days after imaging. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed timeframe.
When DC Medical Centre receives your report, we generally send a message asking you to book an appointment to discuss your results. Urgent findings may require a different response.
If you have not heard from us within one week after your imaging was completed, contact reception. We can follow up with the provider if your report has not arrived.
Yes, where a clinical review is indicated. Please follow the message from the practice to arrange the appropriate follow-up.
Preparation depends on the examination. Some ultrasounds or CT studies require fasting, drinking water or other steps. Follow the imaging provider's instructions.
Tell them about pregnancy or possible pregnancy, implants or pacemakers, kidney conditions, allergies, previous contrast reactions and relevant medicines, as applicable.
X-rays image structures using ionising radiation; ultrasound uses sound waves; CT produces detailed cross-sectional X-ray images; MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves.
Under Medicare diagnostic imaging request rules, requests generally do not expire before the service is performed, but the provider may need updated clinical information if circumstances have changed.
Absolutely. Our directory is for convenience only, not a preferred-provider or compulsory list. You can call around to compare location, appointments and prices.
No. Imaging providers independently manage their appointments, pricing, testing and report preparation. We can chase a missing report when notified.
Contact your preferred imaging provider directly to arrange the scan and ask about their prices. Once the report reaches DC Medical Centre, we will generally message you about arranging a results review. If you have not heard from us a week after your scan, contact reception so we can follow up. You are free to choose any imaging provider that offers the requested service.
