Test Results at DC Medical Centre

Whenever we receive results from an investigation requested by a practitioner at DC Medical Centre, we send the patient a text message inviting them to book a follow-up appointment. We send this message whether the results are normal or abnormal.

Recommended appointment: you can arrange either a telehealth or in-person consultation to discuss your results. Please choose the option suitable for your clinical needs.

When should your results be available?

Blood test results

Typically available in 2–5 days after your blood sample is taken. Some tests can take longer.

Imaging reports

Typically available in 3–7 days after your imaging scan is completed.

Haven't received a text within seven days?

If seven days have passed since your investigation—the day your blood was collected or your imaging scan was performed—and you have not received a results text, please contact DC Medical Centre. We may need to follow up with the pathology laboratory or imaging provider because the report has not been sent to us. Do not assume that no message means your results are normal.

How our results notification process works

1. Your investigation

You attend the laboratory or imaging centre for a test ordered by one of our practitioners.

2. We receive the report

Once the report reaches DC Medical Centre, we send you a text message, regardless of whether the result is normal or abnormal.

3. Book your follow-up

The message invites you to arrange a telehealth or in-person appointment to review your results with a practitioner.

4. Follow up missing results

If you have received no text within seven days of the test, contact us so we can chase the report if needed.

The text is not a diagnosis

Receiving our message does not indicate that a result is abnormal. We send it for all results received from investigations ordered by our practitioners.

Please ensure we have your current mobile number so we can contact you.

Would you prefer a copy without a GP follow-up?

If you would like a copy of your test results but do not want a follow-up consultation, join our telehealth queue and select “email” as your preferred way to receive your results.

Your practitioner will decide whether the report can be released without discussing it with you first. If the practitioner approves release, your results will be emailed to you. Some results may require a consultation before release or further medical assessment.

Prefer email?

Use the telehealth queue and choose email as your results delivery preference. Email release is subject to your practitioner's approval.

Requesting historical results

For copies of previous test results held by our practice, email reception@dcmedical.com.au with your request. Our reception team will be happy to help, subject to appropriate identity and privacy checks.

Results ordered by another practitioner

Our text-message notification process applies only to investigations requested by a practitioner at DC Medical Centre.

If another practitioner or another medical practice requested your investigation, please contact that practitioner or practice to discuss your results.

If you are transferring your care to DC Medical Centre and would like to discuss results ordered elsewhere, please book an in-person consultation so your GP can review your history and the relevant reports.

Urgent symptoms

Please do not wait for a text message if your symptoms worsen or you need urgent care. For a medical emergency call 000 or attend an emergency department.
